CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Diary Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Our Core Principle
Diary Pro is a diary app: you write entries on the days of a calendar, add photos and your mood, look back at how your mood has changed, and (with Premium) keep a 1-second video for each day. Writing, saving, searching, the mood statistics, and backups all run entirely on your device. Your diary is yours: it is stored on your device, and we never view, collect, upload, or transmit it to our servers. There is no account and no sign-up, and we do not run any server that receives your diary. Specifically, we do not have access to any of the following:
- The titles and text of your entries, and the moods, activities, tags, and weather you record
- The photos you add and the 1-second videos you record or choose, including their sound
- Your templates, your backups, and the files you export
- What you say when you use voice input
Your diary leaves your device only through actions you take yourself — creating a backup or an export, sharing, or saving a movie to your gallery — or through Android's own backup, described in Section 3.2.
2. Photos, 1-Second Videos, and Voice Input
- Photos: You take a photo with your phone's camera app or pick one with the system photo picker. The App can see only the photos you take or pick this way, not the rest of your photo library. It saves its own copy, redrawn as a JPEG of up to 1600 pixels on the long side, in the App's own storage. Location and other metadata (EXIF) are not kept in the copy. Your original photo stays where it was.
- Camera (1-second videos, Premium): The camera is used only while the recording screen is open. The App records about 1.5 seconds and keeps 1 second of it.
- Microphone: Sound is recorded only while a 1-second video is being recorded, and only if you allow microphone access and keep "Record sound" on. Without it, videos are recorded without sound.
- Choosing a 1-second clip from a video: You pick a video with the system picker. The App cuts out the 1 second you choose and saves only that part; the original video is not copied.
- Movies you make: When you join your 1-second videos into a movie, it is saved only where you choose — your gallery (Movies/DiaryPro) or a file location you pick — or sent to the app you share it with. Files in the gallery can be seen by other apps that you have allowed to access your photos and videos.
- Voice input: When you tap the microphone button to dictate, your phone's speech recognition service (usually Google voice typing) turns your speech into text under its provider's privacy policy. The App receives only the resulting text and does not record your voice.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information or anything you wrote, photographed, or recorded in your diary.
- Purchase information: We use purchase tokens issued by Google Play to verify your one-time "Premium" purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.
- List of our other apps: To show our other apps in Settings, the app downloads their names, descriptions, and icons from our content server (static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages). The request contains no personal data from the app. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection. Tapping an app in the list opens its page on Google Play.
- This privacy policy: When you open the privacy policy in the app, this page is loaded from our website. As with any website, the web server receives your IP address and basic browser information as part of the connection. If the page cannot be loaded, the app shows a copy built into the app instead.
The app does not use analytics tools, does not track how you use it, and does not use your device's advertising ID.
3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device
- Your diary: Entries (date, time, title, text, mood, activities, tags, weather, favorites), photos, 1-second videos, templates, and settings are stored in the App's own storage on your device.
- Trash: Entries you delete are kept in the trash for 30 days so you can restore them, and are then deleted automatically together with their photos.
- Automatic backups inside the App: Each day the App keeps a copy of your diary text and settings in its own storage, keeping the newest 7. Before you restore or merge a backup, it also keeps a copy of your current diary.
- Backups and exports you create: Backup files (text-only JSON, or a ZIP that includes photos and videos) and exports (TXT, CSV, and PDF) are written only to the location you choose or sent to the app you share them with. If you turn on automatic backup to a folder, the App writes a backup (a ZIP that includes photos and videos) to the folder you picked and keeps the newest 5 there. If that folder is synced by a cloud storage service, that service's privacy policy applies to the copies it stores.
- Android backup: If backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include your diary text, your settings, and your Premium purchase state in the backup it saves to your own Google account. Photos and 1-second videos are not included in that backup; they are copied to a new phone only when you transfer your data directly (by cable or phone to phone). This is handled by Google; we have no access to it.
- App lock: The app lock uses your phone's screen lock (fingerprint, face, PIN, pattern, or password). Your biometric data and your screen lock are handled by Android and never reach the App.
- Hide content in recent apps: If you turn this on, the App's screen is not shown in the recent apps list (on Android 12 and earlier, screenshots of the App are also blocked).
- Widgets: If you add the "Today" widget to your home screen, it shows the title or first line of today's entry and your mood there; the mood calendar widget shows the mood of each day. Widgets stay visible on your home screen even when the app lock is on.
- When you uninstall: Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes your entries, photos, 1-second videos, the backups kept inside the App, and your settings. Backups, exports, and movies you saved outside the App remain until you delete them.
3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect
- Anything you write, photograph, or record in your diary, or say with voice input
- Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (the app has no account or sign-up)
- Your location (the app does not request location permission, and removes location from the photos it saves)
- Your device's advertising ID, or a history of how you use the app
- The contents of your screen or of other apps
3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes
Diary Pro uses the following OS permissions only for the stated purposes:
- Camera (CAMERA) — Records 1-second videos (Premium). Used only while the recording screen is open. Photos for your entries are taken by your camera app, so this permission is not used for them.
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — Records sound with 1-second videos. Optional: without it, videos are recorded without sound.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13+) — Shows the reminders you set: to write your diary, "On this day" from past years, and to record your 1-second video.
- Alarms & reminders (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) — Delivers reminders at the time you set. Without it, reminders may arrive a few minutes late.
- Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Schedules your reminders again after your phone restarts.
- Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC) — Unlocks the app lock with your fingerprint or face through Android's own unlock screen.
- Internet (INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — Used only for anonymous crash reports, Google Play purchase verification, in-app reviews and in-app updates, downloading the list of our other apps, and showing this privacy policy in the app. Writing, saving, and backups do not require an internet connection.
4. How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:
- Operating and maintaining the Service
- Verifying your Premium purchase
- Diagnosing and fixing crashes
- Responding to support inquiries
- Complying with applicable laws
5. Third-Party Services
Diary Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data
- Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — the one-time Premium purchase; payment is completed on Google Play, and we receive only a purchase token
- Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates (Google LLC) — let you rate the app and install updates without leaving it; handled by Google Play
- Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.) — hosts the static list of our other apps
- Your phone's speech recognition service (usually Google LLC) — only when you use voice input
We do not sell your data, do not share it with advertising networks, and do not use it for advertising.
6. Data Retention
- Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
- Support emails: retained for 12 months after the last reply, then deleted (except where legally required).
- Your diary on your device: kept until you delete it, uninstall the app, or clear the app's data. Entries in the trash are deleted automatically after 30 days, and only the newest 7 automatic backups inside the App are kept.
7. International Data Transfers
We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics and for hosting the list of our other apps may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold. You can:
- Delete entries, photos, and 1-second videos in the app at any time, and empty the trash
- Uninstall the app or clear its data to erase everything stored in the App on your device
- Turn off "Record sound", or withdraw the camera, microphone, or notification permission in your device settings at any time
- Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold
9. Children's Privacy
Diary Pro is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age applicable in your region). If we inadvertently collect information from such a child, we will delete it promptly upon being contacted.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date. We will also notify you within the app of significant changes as appropriate.
